Technical Assistance Process: Energy Efficiency

Step 1: Introductions

First, we want to get to know you, your enterprise and your building(s), so that we can determine what resources and opportunities are available to you. You’ll complete a brief form, followed by an introductory call with NCIFund’s Project Manager and an energy engineer, at which time we’ll establish next steps.

Step 2: Energy Assessment Design

You may need or want an energy assessment in order to move forward with an energy-improvement project, but not all energy assessments are created equal. We’ll kickoff an energy assessment with a questionnaire about your energy use, challenges and interests – this will indicate what level energy assessment you need. Assessments range from $2,500 – $5,000 or more for very large or complex projects.

NCIFund may be able help you offset the cost of an energy audit.

Step 3: Energy Assessment Site Visit

If you need a certified energy audit, our energy engineer will conduct an on-site visit. The person most familiar with your facilities should be available during the visit, which usually takes 1- 3 hours.

Step 4: Report Delivery & Questions Answered

The result of an energy assessment is a written report, including an analysis of your current energy usage and potential impact of energy-saving improvements. The report will make recommendations, on which some incentive programs—such as USDA progrms—rely. We’ll go over the report with you, answer any questions and establish next steps for helping you implement the improvements.

Step 5: Project Development & Funding

Our team can help facilitate the implementation of your energy project, connecting you with vendors as well as resources to cover the out-of-pocket costs. We can help you identify grants, rebates and financing opportunities.

NCIFund offers flexible and affordable financing for qualified applicants.

Our Energy Initiative team is made up of staff from Natural Capital Investment Fund and The Conservation Fund, as well as third-party consultants with expertise in energy engineering and project development. NCIFund’s Project Manager and one or more of these people may help you.
